PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The Cutaway is a unique 10,000m2 underground venue carved into the sandstone beneath the renowned park and recreational area at Barangaroo Reserve. The space is designed to host exhibitions, performances, cultural events, and large-scale public gatherings (accommodating approx. 3,000 patrons).
The recent refurbishment transformed the previously underutilised space into a world-class destination with three levels featuring multiple event halls, gallery areas, First Nations education facilities, and extensive back-of-house support areas. The site also underwent major upgrades to accessibility, providing state-of-the-art building services. With all the contemporary updates and awe-inspiring design, the redevelopment project has also managed to reflect Sydney’s natural landscape and celebrate the location’s First Nations heritage and cultural significance.
OUR CONTRIBUTION:
Dolphin manufactured and installed our WashWall Systems across all public and operational amenities throughout The Cutaway, including the female, male, gender neutral, and DDA washrooms on each level.
Included within our Classic Mirror design, the soap dispensers, hand dryers, and towel dispensers are all discretely integrated behind the full-span mirrored cabinetry. Other Dolphin fixtures, including toilet roll holders and grab rails, were also supplied for this project. These washroom products support the venue’s commitment to functionality, accessibility, and exceptional visitor experience.
Given the expected high-traffic environment, The Cutaway’s washrooms required solutions capable of accommodating significant numbers of patrons, while maintaining efficiency, durability, and ease of maintenance. Dolphin’s integrated features, like our bulk cartridge soap dispenser, help to streamline handwashing and reduce cleaning/maintenance requirements — complementing the venue’s modern and minimalist architectural aesthetic.
